A New Kind of IT Consultant
A Christmas dinner between two good friends led to an intense discussion about job satisfaction, company culture, similarities and differences. A few hours later, Erik Jonsson and Mattias Matsson had decided to build something new and big.
“We didn’t know exactly what the model would look like, but we had a clear picture of what we wanted the company culture to feel like and that everything revolved around the employees. So we started with that.”
– Erik Jonsson, co-founder of Visionite.
It was not entirely unexpected that this conversation led to the founding of an IT consulting company. Mattias, who previously founded the HR services company Professionals Nord, has a background in recruitment, while Erik Jonsson comes from the IT world. The duo saw a clear need for reform in the IT consulting industry, where old structures, corporate cultures and attitudes no longer met modern expectations of working life.
Friendliness is our key value, although it may sound banal. This value is one of the most important in the organization and it characterizes everything Visionite does. We want to be professional, fair and kind, and also to work with colleagues who are like that. This kind of atmosphere is contagious and creates a nice community for employees, which they want to be a part of for a long time, says Erik Jonsson.
A central part of the Visionite model is the combination of stability and flexibility. Stability is built on providing engaging, long-term assignments and a compensation model that rewards loyalty. Flexibility, on the other hand, is about giving consultants the power to influence their own hours, professional development, and project choices.
A Human-Centric Approach
Our founder Mattias Matsson was attracted by the challenge of breaking old structures in a multi-million dollar business and the desire to show that it is possible to create a successful company with an individual approach.
“Our business idea is based on having the most satisfied employees in the industry. We always want to exceed our employees’ expectations – higher compensation, more opportunities to influence and more free time. Our job is to create a framework for employees to enjoy working with us, and then the results will come naturally.”
– Mattias Matsson, co-founder of Visionite.
In an invoicing-based salary model, each consultant can influence their income, workload and working hours.
Through an incentive-based compensation model, each consultant has the power to influence their income, workload, and schedule.
– Some might find the transition from a fixed salary to an invoicing-based model daunting at first. However, our consultants earn significantly more than in their previous roles, and our staff turnover is remarkably low. We are completely transparent: ‘This is what you earn, and this is what the company earns. People are often surprised by how simple and empowering that clarity can be, Mattias adds.
We have a wide range of qualified experts who apply for assignments based on their own interests and wishes. It can be a specific industry, the possibility of remote working or individual working hours.
– We maintain a constant dialogue with our team. Our primary task is to ensure they enjoy their daily lives. We pride ourselves on being experts at matching the right specialist with the right assignment, says Erik Jonsson.
The strategy has proven highly successful. In just four years, Visionite has grown to 250 consultants, opened 11 offices, and secured clients across Sweden. The expansion continues: in the coming years, the company plans to double its Swedish presence and launch operations in several new international markets.
